Creative Project

For the last project, we were tasked with using creative writing and connecting it back to what we learned throughout the eco-literacy unit.

Poem 1:

The war that never happened

It’s night, as the moon is bright

The war still raged on as I slept

I cannot shake the feeling of regret

The pain of suffering haunts me in bed

I get up and look at my hands

It was red like wine when I blinked

The whispers of people singing loud

The pain of suffering haunts me in bed

It is as though it happened over again

with sounds of bombs dropped

Pieces crumble like blocks of wood

The pain of suffering haunts me in bed

As I finally drift asleep, the alarm rings

It is day as the sun is bright

I get ready and get my gun as I walk out the door

It was just a nightmare The days had just begun

Poem 2: Fading Green

In a city where humans thrive

We harm our trees with axes and knives

With the paper, we use as the tree’s routine

Our world looks so bland as we fade green

We hear the cries but don’t know where

It was as if the world we lived in shed a tear

We pollute our water with all our machines

Our world looks so bland as we fade green

With all the engines we burn, it’s like a big pot

With the ecosystem that fell in cause, we forgot

All the dust turned the sky into color unseen

Our world looks so bland as we fade green

Poem 3

What do you see when you look up at the night sky?

I see an endless void that is dark and dry.

It’s as if the world has closed its eyes.

With another night, rain falls again.

In the forest, where there are miles of trees,

its the only place where it smells so free.

on the other side, where the smell is masked by innovation,

The smell will grow through generations.

Once a world with stars in the sky,

when the smell of green was at an all-time high,

with the bluest sea, its hard to believe.

that we brought the world to its knees.

The perfect land of Komprine

A universe that is parallel to ours, where instead of our civilization destroying trees in mass quantities, damaging our ecosystem, and jeopardizing our animals, this universe is different. This earth, which is similar to ours, is a utopia where humans and nature can coexist on the same plane. This Earth has been through wars, genocides, and corruption by governments just like ours but in the midst of that, they still regard nature as the top of the pyramid. This alternate Earth has found ways around harmful gases, killing animals, and has also found a way to preserve its trees. Society has been able to create an engine that is not reliant on fossil fuel and doesn’t produce carbon dioxide; instead, they found a way for engines to be powered by the sun. They can make the car solar-powered in a way where our cars charge themselves as you drive. Using the sun’s UV waves as energy to recycle it into oxygen gives them infinite fuel while helping the environment. Also in this world, every person is a vegetarian, not because they don’t eat meat but because it doesn’t come from animals. It is lab-grown and scientists have found a way to replicate any type of meat. It’s created using the DNA of an animal in a cell of a seed, which they then plant, and it grows into a meat tree. This is a very big benefit because it means that no animals have been forced into extinction by humans, and they have an infinite supply of meat. With an endless supply of resources, the cost of food and transportation has decreased significantly, costing only a few dollars for food and a couple hundred for a car. With these monumental differences, it is inevitable that they also need to expand their infrastructure, which means that they also cut down trees, but every tree that has been cut is replaced by a planted tree. This is a perfect society where people value nature and try to preserve it as much as possible while also keeping everyone healthy.
